To welcome 2015, I thought about giving one last look at everything I loved about 2014 so I went through my beauty stash and picked up all the products that I couldn’t live without last year. So just a short intro today: let’s dig in!
LIGHTWEIGHT FOUNDATION – Terracotta Joli Teint Beautifying Foundation by Guerlain in the shade Medium. I discovered this product this summer and it has been my go-to foundation this year! It’s very light and natural looking on the skin, and it gives a very subtle and gorgeous glow to my face.
FULL COVERAGE FOUNDATION – Make Up Forever HD Foundation. This foundation has been my favorite for years now. I still use this foundation but mostly when I want a very long lasting foundation and that flawless matte finish. This product is perfect for a photoshoot as it doesn’t have SPF in it, and if you are going to party all night long for example (Greaaat foundation for that by the way…)!
CONCEALER – Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Caramel, hands down! It doesn’t crease and that color is perfect as it is slightly lighter than my skintone, which brightens up my under eye area.
BONUS FACE PRODUCT – Urban Decay All Nighter! This bad boy has been my lifesaver for every party I went to or whenever I knew I couldn’t do any touch ups. I spray this product all over my face right before I put on my eye makeup, which makes it stay even longer.
BLUSH – my favorite blush this year is the MicroSmooth Baked blush duo by Sephora in the shade Guava Glow. It is a luminous peachy coral blush that is beautiful on all skintones and even more in the summer on tanned skin!
EYESHADOW BASE – Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, obviously! I actually just used it up and I need to go get another one asap.
EYESHADOW PALETTE – This was difficult because I love all my palettes SO much, but to be honest, the one I used the most is The 2013 holiday Artist Palette by Laura Mercier.
EYELINER – eyeliner is a statement product for me. I have tried so many ones but Stila’s Stay All Day eyeliner is definitely one of the best so far.
MASCARA – I tried high end and drugstore mascaras and came across many good ones but never found The One, so I am all for high end samples to try them before buying!
BOLD LIPSTICK – Relentlessly Red (MAC, retro matte finish), which is a vibrant raspberry red. Favorite lipcolor, favorite finish. what else can I say?
NEUTRAL LIPSTICK – Heart to heart (MAC, creamsheen finish, limited edition), a gorgeous dusty pink or the perfect my-lips-but-better color!
NAIL POLISH – I was really into pastel colors for my nails, and my favorite is Lilacism from Essie. For special occasions, I enjoyed using the Caviar manicure by Ciaté.
HAIR CARE PRODUCTS – I fell in love with the Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s invisible oil range. It has a very pleasant smell and it hydrates and smoothes your hair. For styling, I enjoyed applying the Caviar CC Cream by Alterna before straightening my hair (it hydrates, smoothes frizzy hair, protects from heat and does many other amazing things). The final step in my hair care routine is the Mythic Oil by L’Oréal.
FACE SCRUB – St-Yves’ Apricot Scrub. I have a sensitive skin but this doesn’t irritate at all. My skin feels super soft after the shower.
FACE MOISTURIZER – Origins’ GinZing moisturizer. It’s hard for me to find the perfect all-year-round moisturizer because I have a combination skin that tends to be “oily” in the summer and extremely dry in the winter. I love the gel cream texture as it is lightweight so it sinks into the skin quickly and it leaves your face a silky smooth afterwards.
FACE MASK – during the colder months, I apply the Origins’ Drink-Up Intensive overnight mask before I go to sleep.
LIP TREATMENT – Nivea lipbutter in raspberry! I also love the Vanilla and Macademia one. BODY CREAM – in 2014 I was all over PINK’s body cream in the scent Sweet & Flirty. I love the fresh and fruity scent it has (pink peony…?) and it is very hydrating, which is important because I have a very dry skin. However, now that I discovered Bath and Body Works body creams, things may change in 2015… Who knows?
MAKEUP REMOVER – I discovered the magic world of cleansing balms and I fell in love with Clinique’s Take The Day Off. It doesn’t irritate or leave your skin greasy, and it removes all my makeup easily. I have very sensitive eyes and it is a gentle balm. When I finish it, I will try using coconut oil as a makeup remover. It’s supposed to be the more natural and cheaper alternative!
PERFUME – I am obsessed with Marc Jacobs fragrances. I love them all, really. Except for Honey, which I find sickeningly sweet. This year, my favorite perfume was Dot but I also loved wearing Daisy Eau SO Fresh, the Sunshine edition this summer.
And you, what were your favorites of 2014 ?
